January 24, 2023 — Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy are killed at the family home in Duxbury. Lindsay Clancy falls from a second-story window and is seriously injured.
February 7, 2023 — Clancy is arraigned in Plymouth District Court, appearing remotely from her hospital bed, and pleads not guilty. Prosecutors describe the events of January 24 in open court.
September 15, 2023 — A Plymouth County grand jury returns indictments.
October 2023 — Clancy is arraigned in Superior Court.
October 24, 2023 — Search warrant materials are unsealed, detailing evidence taken from the Duxbury home and Clancy's internet search history.
2024 — The court orders a psychiatric examination of the defendant and approves DNA testing. No public filing.
March 19, 2025 — The New Yorker contests a court order requiring the magazine to turn over recordings of its interviews with Patrick Clancy, raising a First Amendment objection.
May 28 (?), 2025 — The court hears argument on the defendant's psychiatric records and the reporter's notes. No public filing.
February 20, 2026 — Clancy appears in a courtroom in person for the first time since her arrest, at Plymouth Superior Court for a pretrial hearing. Both of her arraignments had been conducted at Tewksbury State Hospital.
March 31, 2026 — The judge denies the defense request for a bifurcated trial, which would have separated the question of what happened from the question of criminal responsibility. No public filing.
July 20–24, 2026 — Jury selection.
July 27, 2026 — Opening statements. Patrick Clancy begins his testimony.
August 7, 2026 — The Commonwealth rests.
August 10, 2026 — The defense opens its case.
August 21, 2026 — The defense rests. The Commonwealth begins rebuttal.
August 24, 2026 — The judge denies a defense motion for a mistrial after a rebuttal witness raised the subject of religion, and reprimands the prosecution. No public filing.
August 26, 2026 — Rebuttal concludes.
August 27, 2026 — Closing arguments. The judge instructs the jury on the law. Deliberations begin.
